Suguru Geto and the white dragon
A white dragon winds through the entire scroll, from the top dowel to the bottom of the image, and Geto stands in the center of this spiral, hand raised, perfectly calm. The dragon's body literally serves as the structure for the composition: it wraps around the character and draws the eye back to his face.
This is the illustration that makes the best use of the wall scroll format in the entire selection. A long, sinuous creature needs height, and 120 cm provides it. The pearlescent whites of the dragon contrast with the black of the kimono and a few touches of gold.
