The scratched headband
Itachi wears the forehead protector scratched with a line, a mark of his break from his village. His gaze is scarlet, and red shards streak diagonally toward the bottom of the scroll, against a gray ink wash background.
The detail of the headband is the subject: it defines the character in a single image, without the need for a scene. For those who know the series, it is the most evocative visual of the five Itachi designs in the collection.
