The Story Behind the Design

This case is part of a series of nine, one for each member of the Straw Hat crew. Same layout, same frame, same typography — only the character and its color change. This makes it more than just an isolated visual: a collection.

Brook is the ship's musician and a skeleton. Assigning black to him in a series where each member has their own color is obvious — it's also the only variation that doesn't have a distinct hue.

Two representations show him, one with his instrument. The white of the bones and the gold of the crown stand out all the more as the background reflects no light.
