The story behind the design

This is the most minimalist visual in our One Piece range, and by far the riskiest: the character has no face, no color, and no details. He is reduced to an outline.

It only works because Ace's silhouette is immediately identifiable — the wide-brimmed hat, the messy hair, the unbalanced posture. Remove the hat and the image says nothing; he is there, so everyone knows.

The real subject of the illustration is the disc of fire behind him. It acts as a single light source and turns the character into a cutout. It's a very old composition principle — backlighting — and here it produces an image that remains legible even when reduced to the size of a thumbnail.

Are there really no details of the character visible?

Does the black background show fingerprints?
Less than a glossy back: the finish is matte, which significantly limits marks. A slightly damp cloth is enough.
