Fern, in front of the stained-glass window
Fern stands in three-quarter profile, her staff held low, in a long purple cloak worn over a light dress. Behind her, a stained-glass window fills the entire background: pale glass set in lead, forming a rose window around her head.
The stained-glass window acts as a halo without actually being one, and the composition is almost religious: centered character, symmetrical decor, palette reduced to purple and off-white. This is the most composed visual of the lot, the one that least resembles a series illustration.
