Megumi Fushiguro and the Wolf's Maw

The wolf's head occupies the upper third of the scroll, with yellow eyes and an open maw, and Megumi stands directly below it, hands open forward. The two are superimposed exactly along the axis: the beast seems to emerge from the character's head.

This superposition is the best asset of the composition, and it only works in a tall format. The palette remains very dark, with purples and a vivid yellow for the wolf's eyes — two bright points of light that catch the eye from afar. On a light wall, this contrast is striking; on a dark wall, only the eyes remain, which is no less beautiful.
