Sukuna before the four eyes
Four large white eyes, rimmed in red, occupy the top of the scroll and stare at the viewer. Below, Sukuna joins his hands, calm, a smile at the corner of his lips. Between the two, red vines connect the character to the creature.
Symmetry is the true subject here: the eyes are arranged in a diamond shape, the hands are in the center, and the vertical axis of the scroll falls squarely on the face. This rigor gives the image an iconic, almost religious quality, which contrasts with the violence of the subject. Hung alone and well-centered on its wall, this kakemono creates an altar-like effect that works remarkably well.
