The story behind the figure

Konan is the only woman in the Akatsuki and the only one Pain ever listened to. The inhabitants of her village literally consider her an angel—an image she maintains with her technique, which transforms paper into wings. What makes the character so striking is that she doesn't truly believe in the ideology she serves: she follows two childhood friends, and continues to do so long after only one remains.
