The story behind the design

This is our second case built as an emblem rather than an illustration, and the first for this character. No face, no scene: one object, one name, one color.

The challenge is the same as for a logo: three elements must suffice. Here, the red — the color of the character's vest — the gold of the medallion, and the name written in full. A One Piece reader needs nothing else.

The practical appeal is real: a character case clearly announces what you are looking at. An emblem case does not. This one can be worn in a context where manga visuals would feel out of place, while remaining perfectly identifiable to those in the know.

No, only the medallion, the name and the cross mark. It is one of our only two cases without a character, along with the ASCE tattoo.

No, it is a flat print. The surface is perfectly smooth; the metallic effect comes from the drawing.
