The story behind the figure
Nami stole for eight years to buy back her hometown from Arlong, one berry at a time, while everyone in Cocoyashi thought she was a traitor. One hundred million berries accumulated by betraying everyone, including the only crew that ever accepted her. This is where her relationship with money comes from — and what the series turns into a recurring gag is actually the remnant of one of East Blue's toughest stories. This piece freezes the gag; the reader, however, knows where it comes from.
