Monkey D. Dragon is the world's most wanted man, the leader of the Revolutionary Army — and Luffy’s father, a fact unknown until Garp reveals it during the Summit War. He is first glimpsed in Loguetown, seen from behind, when an impossible wind saves his son from execution.

His ship appears only after the war, and it resembles its owner: a dragon from the tip of the bow to the stern, elusive on the seas, never where the Navy expects it to be.
