Black Friday is the time of year when a €90 figure can drop below €70, and also when we see "-60%" signs blooming on prices no one has ever paid. This guide is here to help you tell the difference. It provides the exact dates for the 2026 edition, what the law requires of merchants regarding marked-down prices, how to verify a discount in two minutes, which figures sell out first, and how we handle promotions at Manga Horizon. Black Friday 2026 dates
Black Friday always falls the day after Thanksgiving, the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. In 2026, Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26: therefore, Black Friday takes place on Friday, November 27, 2026. Cyber Monday, its online extension, follows on Monday, November 30. Between the two, the weekend is part of the event for most shops.
In reality, the period has stretched. "Black Week" starts the preceding Monday, which is November 23, and some retailers open their offers as early as mid-November. For a buyer, the consequence is simple: you shouldn't start watching prices on Friday; you should start three weeks before, to know what an item is actually worth on the day it is labeled "on sale."

Black Week, Black Friday, Cyber Monday: what changes from one day to the next
The three moments do not follow the same logic. During Black Week, shops test the waters: moderate discounts on wide selections to get a head start. Black Friday concentrates the strongest and most visible discounts, but also the most stock-outs: a flagship item marked at -20% on Friday morning is often sold out by Saturday. Cyber Monday was born for online purchases on the Monday back at the office; today, it is mostly the last chance to find what remains, sometimes with extended discounts, rarely stronger ones.
For a specific figure you really want, the strategy is to buy on Friday, not to wait until Monday hoping for something better. For an item you would take "if it's a good deal," the weekend and Monday are sufficient.
What the law says about marked-down prices
Since May 28, 2022, in France as in the entire European Union, a simple rule governs discount announcements: the struck-through price must be the lowest price the merchant has charged in the 30 days preceding the promotion. This is the "reference price." A merchant who raises their price three weeks before Black Friday to then display a big discount is committing a deceptive commercial practice, punishable under the Consumer Code. The official SignalConso platform, managed by the Fraud Repression department, allows you to report such practices and reminds businesses of three obligations: a real reference price, clear display of the starting price, the percentage, and the final price.
Two concrete consequences for you. First, a figure whose price was lowered in September for a back-to-school promotion cannot re-display its old high price as a reference in November: the reference is the low price of the last 30 days. Second, Black Friday is not a period of official sales ("soldes"). Official sales have dates set by law, twice a year, for four weeks; Black Friday is a free commercial operation subject to ordinary promotion rules, nothing more, nothing less.
Recognizing a real figure promotion
The law protects, but it does not verify for you. Three actions are enough, and they take two minutes.
Note the price beforehand. In early November, record the price of the five or six items you are targeting at two or three shops. A dated screenshot is sufficient. On November 27, you will immediately know if the discount is real, cosmetic, or if the price was raised in the meantime.
Compare the final price, not the percentage. A "-40%" on an inflated reference price can yield a higher final price than an honest "-15%" on the same model elsewhere. Compare what you are actually paying, shipping costs included, and nothing else.
Be wary of deals that are too good. On a common PVC figure, a discount rarely exceeds 20 to 30%. Beyond 50%, the Fraud Repression department itself suggests caution: either the reference price is imaginary, or the item has a defect, a damaged box, or dubious origin. A figure at -60% "in limited edition" practically does not exist.
Add a fourth reflex, specific to figures: read the size and the packaging. The same reference often exists in 10 cm and 25 cm, with or without a box, and a spectacular discount on the small version is nothing exceptional. The five traps of the manga Black Friday
- The countdown that restarts. A timer that has been saying "only 2 hours left" for three days is not an emergency, it is scenery. Ignore it and decide based on the price.
- The struck-through price that was never charged. See the section on the law: it is forbidden, and it is the most common trap. Your early November screenshot defeats it.
- Hidden shipping costs. A figure at -25% with €9 shipping costs more than one at -15% with free shipping. Compare at the cart, not on the product page.
- The phantom stock. A flagship item displayed on sale but "on backorder" might not be delivered to you until January. Check the availability and the announced delay before paying.
- Black Friday return conditions. Some shops restrict returns on promotional items. In France, the 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases applies during Black Friday as well; just verify you aren't buying from abroad, where rules change.
Which figures sell out first
Year after year, the same items disappear during the day: the headliners of each license, in 20 to 30 cm. Luffy in Gear 5, Zoro, Goku in Super Saiyan, Gojo, Tanjiro and Nezuko, Itachi. These are the figures everyone knows, the ones you can give as a gift without risk, and shops know it: they are also the ones on which discounts are the most timid, because they would sell anyway.
The real good deals of Black Friday are elsewhere: on the secondary characters that collectors love and that the general public isn't looking for, on large formats that take up stock space, and on ships, dioramas, and decor pieces that shops want to clear out before Christmas. If your list only contains heroes, you will pay almost full price. If it contains a Katakuri, an Akainu, a Marco, or a Boa Hancock, you have every chance of stumbling upon a real discount.

Preparing your list before the big day
Black Friday is won before Black Friday. A prepared list avoids the two classic mistakes: buying what is on sale rather than what you wanted, and missing out on the item you wanted because you were hesitating.
The method that works boils down to four lines per item: the exact name of the figure and its size, the price recorded in early November, the price at which you will buy, and the shop where you saw it at the best price. On Friday morning, you look through the list, you check off, you pay. Ten minutes.

Setting a budget and sticking to it
A discount does not make a purchase useful. Set a total amount before the offers open, and distribute it: one main item, one or two smaller ones. The Black Friday trap is not paying too much, it is buying too much. Three figures at -20% where two end up in a box cost more than one single item at full price that you look at every day.
Useful benchmark: if an item was not on your list before November 23, the discount is not enough to justify it. You can make an exception, just one, for that rare piece you never see on promotion.

The marked-down price is the price actually charged before the offer, the one you might have seen on the product page in the previous weeks. We do not raise prices before an operation. The discount is already applied on the product page: there is no code to find, no box to check; the price displayed is the price paid. Shipping is free on purchases over €49, Black Friday or not, which puts most 20 cm and larger figures in the free shipping zone. What we do not do: use timers, announce "last items left" when it isn't true, or announce a percentage discount without the final price next to it.
Delivered before Christmas: the deadline not to miss
A discount is worth nothing if the package arrives after December 25. Our figures leave from warehouses that are not in France, and our usual times are 7 to 14 days depending on the item, indicated on each page and followed by a tracking number. For a Christmas gift, the rule is therefore: order no later than Saturday, December 5. Between Black Friday and this date, there are eight days: plenty of time to take advantage of the offers, provided you don't wait until mid-December hoping for a second wave of promotions which, with us, does not exist.
After December 5, we will state it clearly on the shop: orders placed are no longer guaranteed for the 24th. A figure that arrives on the 27th is still a nice figure, but it is no longer a Christmas gift.
Black Friday or January sales?
The 2027 winter sales will start on Wednesday, January 6, for four weeks: the law sets their start on the second Wednesday of January, moved up to the first when the second falls after the 12th, which is the case in 2027. Should you wait?
For a specific figure, no. Sales are for unsold inventory; a flagship item that performed well during Black Friday will either not be there or not on sale. For an item you would only take at a good price, yes: sales allow for stronger discounts than ordinary promotions, up to selling at a loss, and the unsold large formats from November might appear there. And for a Christmas gift, the question doesn't apply: the sales arrive twelve days too late.
November 27 offers
This section is empty for a good reason: we do not announce discounts in September that we have not yet set, and we do not invent percentages just for show. On the morning of Friday, November 27, it will be filled with the actual offers, item by item, showing the original price struck through and the final price.
